Adrienne was invited to be a guest on daily news show Midday Edition on KPBS (San Diego) on Thursday, February 25. Along with Bethlehem Degu from United Women of East African Support Team and one of our community collaborators, Fadumo Aidid, we shared the origin of the cookbook and a tasty recipe. As a long-time public radio fanatic, this was a dream come true for Adrienne!

Lizzie Johnson of the San Francisco Chronicle came to visit our healthy catering project at Potrero Hill Terrace over the holidays and published this terrific piece just before New Year's. Not mentioned in the article, but the originators of the project to which we contribute the "healthy catering" are BRIDGE Housing and Healthy Generations Project. BRIDGE manages the programs at Potrero (and also the redevelopment efforts) and HGP runs an extensive community health leader initiative, which brings trauma-informed parent evenings for Potrero Terrace residents.
We have learned so much for our partners on this project - BRIDGE, HGP, and the residents themselves who cater the weekly meals, provide structure to the parent evenings, and to the participants themselves. We look forward to responding to the opportunities given to us by this community.
This excellent video, produced by the Califonia Hospital Association, highlights the work we're doing with children and families in the City Heights neighborhood of San Diego.
Love getting some exposure in the Chinese language press since we work so much with Mandarin and Cantonese speaking populations!
The urban life blog Urbanful.com published a piece about the cookbook this week - written by Evenlyn Thorne (who we met while recording a StoryCorps conversation at the listening booth in San Francisco where she is a volunteer.) So great to get the word out!
This project is going so well - residents are thrilled with the quality of the meals, caterers enjoy working together and with Monica for the health of their community. Rebuild Potrero featured this article in their newsletter this month!
