San Francisco General Hospital Food as Medicine Challenge

Georgia Sleeth, Community Health Program Coordinator at the San Francisco General Hospital, contacted the team in December about partnering on a cooking challenge they designed for providers. Their goal was to get residents and doctors experiencing first-hand the limitations of healthy eating on a tight budget, while also sharing resources that could help overcome barriers. We enthusiastically agreed to be part of this initiative. Since their pilot, they have run the challenge a second time and are looking into more ways to encourage providers to try out the resources they refer to their patients.

We built the Mini Course to be equivalent to a direct education intervention. Since the launch of this course, we have been tweaking the login process and ensuring we collect appropriate data from our users. This includes the ATF, which now includes a site added exclusively for this intervention: “Online Mini Course - Multiple Locations | Not Applicable | Online Course.” We look forward to expanding the reach of direct education with this tool! Contact us with questions about how to implement this in your county. Presenting at SNEB Conference
