We are excited to announce FIVE new sites in San Francisco beginning this month. To support the work of our staff and allow for a more personalized experience for workshop participants, we are recruiting volunteers for these sites. Please look at our volunteer descriptions and apply online!
Most of these sites are being run in partnership with the San Francisco Food Bank. We love to support the incredible work that they do! This is our third series of workshops run with the SFFB, and this round we have added an Outreach Toolkit to increase the participation and retention of workshop participants. Many times those who are most in need of cooking and nutrition support have difficulty finding it and making the commitment to attend the workshops. This Toolkit is a collaborative approach to outreach, one that will allow us to measure which outreach steps are most effective and easily create a customized plan for each site. We will begin to use this Toolkit for our other sites beginning later this fall.
We are also excited to partner with Glide Community Housing for the first time. This is a new supportive housing community in the Tenderloin, primarily for disabled and formerly homeless men. There is a strong interest in cooking and nutrition, and several residents want to share their cooking skills with members of their community. We're hoping to have a volunteer work with us on this project as well.
